What kind of training is being put in place for staff and volunteers?

We recognize that proper training is essential. We anticipate training to include Trauma Informed Care, CPR/First Aid, In-Home Training, and more. The other homes we have visited have been very open with sharing their policies with us, so we will be working on this in the coming months. The Home Director would also help with putting training policies in place and there are other organizations that can help with training.

How will you find residents?

We expect referrals to come through direct calls, CAS, St. Clair Child & Youth Services and other community resources. There will also be an online application. A screening process will ensure these women are prepared to engage in the program, care for their children, and work toward self-sufficiency. There is so much need in our local community.

What is the maximum capacity of the home?

There is currently room for five mothers at the home.

What is your drug and alcohol policy?

We have zero tolerance for drug and/or alcohol use during a resident's stay at Sparrow Home. This includes cannabis.

MEET SPARROW HOME'S EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR!

Sparrow Home is delighted to welcome Jenn Bennett as our Executive Director!

Jenn brings many years of experience serving women, families, and the community through Pregnancy Care and Donor Relations. She previously served as Executive Director of the Pregnancy Options and Support Centre, and trained boards and executive directors across Canada through Pregnancy Care Canada.
